Assistant Headteacher L9-13

Meadowbrook College converted from the Oxfordshire Pupil Referral Unit to an Alternative Provision Academy under the Radcliffe Academy Trust on 1st February 2015.

We provide full and part-time education and support to over 140 aged 5-16 students who are finding it difficult to access their mainstream schools. We offer our students another chance and provide a high quality, safe learning environment in which to develop positive behaviours and skills which can be used to improve their life chances. We work hard to ensure our young people achieve the best outcomes they can by creating individual educational packages which meet their needs and equip them for their next destination. Our hope for our students is that they will re-engage with learning, be successful and achieve their goals. Our aim is for every one of our students to move on to college, school, an apprenticeship or employment.

We are looking for an Assistant Headteacher, based mainly at our Oxford site, to join our team as our provision continues to expand. If you have a passion for finding solutions in the most challenging of circumstances and a clear commitment to supporting and developing the vision for our academy and academy trust, then we would love to hear from you.

What we are looking for:

This post will suit an individual who has experience in an Assistant Headteacher capacity and has ambitions to be a Headteacher/Head of School. Working with the Headteacher, the successful applicant will be able to have direct impact on realising the vision of the academy/academy trust and leading and managing a talented and committed team. You must be capable of providing inspirational leadership, be creative, an outstanding classroom practitioner and have an innovative and flexible approach to finding solutions which will enable young people on the site to be Safe, Respectful and Ready to Learn on a daily basis.  You will be committed to the highest achievement for all and be a resourceful and enthusiastic member of the senior team. The successful applicant must be able to travel across our three main sites, and our satellite sites, across the county.

Why work at Meadowbrook College?

Meadowbrook College staff are both professional and resilient. There is a “can do” attitude that makes a real difference to the lives of our students; many of whom have become disengaged with education and lost the confidence to achieve their full potential

We offer a variety of opportunities for ongoing professional development for all staff

We are working in an ever changing and expanding educational climate where the need for alternative provision solutions is ever increasing. We are responding to this demand in a variety of exciting ways and there are many future opportunities for career progression at all levels.

Please complete an application form and return to Helen Head, Headteacher’s PA, at hhead@meadowbrookcollege.org by 12pm on Monday 15th October 2018. Interviews will take place on Friday 19th October 2018. You would be encouraged and welcome to visit the College; please contact Helen, if you would like to arrange this prior to application.  In addition to the section in the application form ‘Relevant Skills and Experience’, please provide a supporting letter, no more than 2 sides A4, in which you explain why you believe you would be suitable for the position of Assistant Headteacher at Meadowbrook College/Radcliffe Academy Trust, and how you would be able to contribute to the achievement of our visions and values now, and in the next three years.

Meadowbrook College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff and volunteers are also expected to promote fundamental British values. This post involves the type of work with children and young people that requires applicants to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post.  All cases are considered confidentially and according to the nature of the role and information disclosed.
