Training, qualifications and experience

  • Good standard of basic education including English and mathematics
  • Extended experience or the ability to demonstrate the competence to undertake the role
  • Possession of a relevant ICT qualification, to meet the demands of the role, or the ability to demonstrate the capabilityto gain, relevant qualifications or equivalent where applicable
  • Experience of working in a school or college
  • Working knowledge of the practices, processes and procedures relevant to the role i.e. understanding and experience of:Windows Update Services, Windows and Printer Deployment, Group Policy Management, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP,Microsoft Hyper-V, Windows Server, Microsoft 365 management, wireless network implementation and management,Firewall management, Web filters and Infrastructure Management
  • Knowledge and experience of maintaining and repairing pcs, laptops, printers and audio visual equipment
  • Similar knowledge of printers, reprographics and managed print solution would be desirable
  • Experience of implementing new systems, hardware and software (ie research, test and install new technologies)
  • To be willing to undertake the PAT test training.


Professional knowledge and understanding

  • Prior experience of managing users in a Microsoft 365 tenancy
  • Knowledge and understanding of a Management Information System
  • Able to troubleshoot and resolve problems including innovative approach
  • Good planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, work efficiently and accurately, particularly underpressure, to deadlines and using own initiative
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents and members of the community
  • Developed skills appropriate to the job discipline
  • Confidence and enthusiastic to work with staff and student and including those with limited ICT knowledge andunderstanding
  • Ability to communicate technical fixes to end users in clear, non-technical language, enabling users to implementsolutions where appropriate
