In partnership with the Archdiocese of Birmingham, the Lumen Christi Board of Directors and School Standards Committee of St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School are seeking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic AV Technician.

St Thomas Aquinas is a large and thriving Catholic comprehensive school in the south of Birmingham. Along with seven local primary schools, it is part of growing Catholic Multi Academy. It is a place where staff and students from all faiths live out the school mission. Examination results in summer 2022 were excellent the school in the top 25% of all schools nationally. Building on the ‘Good’ judgement by OFSTED, the Catholic Schools Inspectorate recently judged the school to be ‘Outstanding’ in all areas. As a result, we are proud to be an oversubscribed school.

St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School are seeking to appoint an AV Technician as soon as possible, to join our responsive and dedicated IT team. The successful candidate will provide professional, effective, knowledgeable, and rapid Audio-Visual (AV) and IT support to staff and students as needed. Provide support for teaching and events, including setting up and operating equipment.

The candidate will support the IT Team by contributing to first-line support by resolving or escalating support calls using IT Service logging systems. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic AV technician who has the ability, confidence, and talent to make a huge impact to our students’ education from day one by supporting staff with their curriculum needs and wider extra-curricular activities. 

Flexible working is required to support events before and after the school day.

Key responsibilities:

• To be the technical first point of contact for events.

• Assist in the setting up, operating, editing, and processing of events using a range of specialist AV hardware.

• Oversee routine maintenance ensuring the school’s AV systems and associated hardware remain up to date and meet the needs of stakeholders.

• Assist in processing, editing, production and archiving of audio-visual material using a range of digital tools and software.

• Work with the IT Services Team by providing 1st line support whilst working on behalf of the school’s users to resolve/escalate issues and to regularly communicate back with progress updates. 

• To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be requested appropriate to the role.

• Some occasional travelling may be required.
