Wallingford School is an oversubscribed, successful 11-18 school with enthusiastic students, supportive staff and excellent facilities. We are among the most successful schools in the country for progress in English and Maths. In 2022, 83% of our students achieved at least a Grade 4 in English and Maths at GCSE, almost 40% of all grades achieved were at Grade 7 or above and 9% of all entries gained a Grade 9. At KS5, our students are consistently in the top 25% nationally for Value Added progress. In 2022, 73% of all entries gained A*- B grades and 43% of all entries gained A*- A, including 15% at A*.

We place an especially high value on the development of colleagues and have an extensive professional development programme. There are many opportunities for teachers to work collaboratively across the school. Within departments, and the school as a whole, there are often opportunities to take on roles of responsibility. Science is taught by an enthusiastic and highly committed team of teachers, ably supported by a team of technicians. In KS4 Science, our students consistently make progress that is significantly above the national average. In 2022, 80% achieved 4+ in GCSE Double Award Science and 79% 7+ overall in GCSE Triple Science. KS5 performance continues to be very strong, with A Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics regularly making progress in the top 25% of the country (ALPS 3). Across the three A Level Sciences, 76% of grades achieved were at B+ and 19% were graded A*. We also have a popular and successful vocational offer in BTEC Applied Science. In 2022 57% of students gained a Distinction or Distinction* in this qualification.
