If you would like this to be considered, please make it clear in your letter of application.

Hemyock and Sampford Peverell primary schools are both rooted in their village communities and both have a strong culture where children and staff thrive. Visitors often comment on the children’s positive attitude to learning and the welcoming nature of the two schools. Parents are pro-active in their involvement and are very supportive of the schools.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:

  • strong organisational, leadership and communication skills
  • a sound knowledge and understanding of special educational needs policy, practice and provision
  • the ability to build strong professional relationships

  • the ability to effectively lead and manage the schools' provision for pupils with SEND
  • evidence of successful multi agency working
  • their ability to deliver the best possible outcomes for all learners

We would prefer candidates to have the required National Award for SEN Co-ordination; however, we would support candidates working towards this award – whether they have already embarked on their journey or are yet to commence.

In order to support our families, the SENDCo will also have oversight and responsibility for the provision for vulnerable pupils and provide support for pupils displaying social, emotional, mental health and behavioural needs; working in partnership with staff, families/carers, professionals, and pupils in a school context.

The SENDCO is required to fulfil the essential elements of the person specification for this role and would be part of the senior leadership team. The successful applicant will work as part of the Ventrus SEND Best Practice Network and would be joining a highly supportive network of Trust colleagues. If you would like to join a friendly and supportive team, and work with children who are well motivated and want to learn, then we would like to hear from you.
