Shiplake College is seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and visionary Director of Music. This is a superb opportunity for a suitably qualified practitioner to lead an innovative, successful and inclusive department. The role would suit an energetic teacher committed to the highest standards of teaching and learning; a teacher who can inspire and challenge all of our musicians to achieve their personal bests.
Our modern, purpose-built Music Department has a professional standard recording studio, soundproof practice rooms and two large ensemble classrooms. Each classroom is fitted with a suite of Macs running the latest music software.
Music plays an increasingly important part in the life of Shiplake College, which is proud to offer music for all. Applications are welcomed from inspirational teachers who will strive for excellence in all aspects of the music curriculum and public performance.
The successful candidate will teach throughout the curriculum from Year 7 to Year 13 including the delivery of GCSE and BTEC Music courses. Competence in the use of music technology, excellent keyboard skills and a passion for co-curricular music would be advantageous.
Shiplake College is an independent boarding and day school for just over 500 pupils aged 11 to 18. There has been a co-educational Sixth Form since 1998 and in September 2023 girls joined in Year 7 as the College goes fully co-educational. Situated in 45 acres of beautiful countryside near Henley-on-Thames, we offer an outstanding education based on small class sizes, excellent facilities and dedicated teaching staff. All teaching staff are expected to contribute to the busy programme of co-curricular activities on offer.
