School Business Manager, St. Stephens CE Primary, Blackburn BB1 5PE

Due to the retirement of our current SBM the Governors and Headteacher are seeking to appoint a skilled and experienced, proactive, highly motivated Business Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team taking responsibility for the strategic leadership of our school’s business and financial responsibilities.

St. Stephen’s CE Primary School is a vibrant and ambitious two-form entry school serving its local diverse community in Little Harwood, close to Blackburn town centre. We are a Church of England school but embrace all faiths with close links to our local community including the parish church. As a Voluntary Aided School, we work in partnership with the Diocese.

We serve an area of Blackburn with high deprivation experiencing many challenges. However, we support our families to provide the best opportunities. Our recent Ofsted Inspection noted that the children enjoy attending St. Stephen’s, they feel safe and behaviour is good.

Our school provides a welcoming, safe and inclusive learning environment built on mutual respect and trust. We offer modern facilities, inspiring technology and resources with extensive school grounds. We are looking for someone who will be able to fulfil the attached job description and person specification alongside becoming a valued member of our St. Stephen’s family. We need our School Business Manager to use their initiative and suggest solutions to support the School Leadership Team whilst organising their time and priorities independently and efficiently. You must have high expectations and a strong work ethic to drive the school through the next phase of development.

We require someone with:

  • Experience of working in a busy school office thus able to prioritise work and ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner
  • The appropriate qualifications, a certificate/ diploma in School Business Management or be prepared to complete accreditation
  • Leadership and management experience of areas including finance, health and safety and facilities management
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present both written and verbal information effectively for a range of stakeholders
  • The ability to develop positive relationships, leading teams effectively, building upon current good practice
  • A genuine desire to involve yourself fully in the life of our school and to work as part of our forward-thinking team of professionals
  • Is highly motivated and able to effectively and juggle the varied responsibilities in a calm manner

Contract type: Permanent Part Time, 38 weeks plus 4 weeks 37 hours per week
