School Appeals Presenting Officer Job, Birmingham City Centre, Leading Local Authority

Your new company

Following an internal re-design, we are now looking to recruit a temporary School Appeals Presenting Officer to work in the heart of the city centre. Birmingham City Council is the largest single local authority in Europe offering a range of opportunities and regeneration. With Birmingham and the surrounding areas continuing to develop, the council pride itself to make life better for the millions of people who live and work in the city.

Your new role

As a temporary School Appeals Presenting Officer, you will be working with the School Appeals team in Birmingham City Centre. You will be required to prepare and present appeals statements to education panels on behalf of the council relating to school admissions. There could also be the requirement to present to mixed panels on occasion that would require extensive preparation work. You would be working, on average, on 2 appeals per day, but there may be increased demand over the summer months. The role itself would be for 3 days per week, however there is the potential that this could be extended to 5 days per week for the right candidate.

What you'll need to succeed

It is essential that you have experience of working with a Schools Appeal Panel, ideally representing a Local Authority. You will have experience of both preparing and presenting statements to appeals panels and also have a strong, up to date knowledge of the appeals process.

What you'll get in return

With a daily rate of up to £300 (dependent on experience), you will be working with an employer who is an accredited Investor in People and who are renowned for their supportive culture that can offer flexible working. You will be based in their office in the heart of the city centre and paid a competitive salary. It will be a great opportunity to be in charge of your own work and improve on your communication management with a leading local authority.
