Areas of Responsibility and Key Tasks
Teaching and Learning and Assessment
To support the Director of Learning to create opportunities to continue to improve subject pedagogy within the faculty through moderation, training, collaborative planning
To support the Director of Learning to monitor the quality of Teaching and Learning in the faculty, conducting learning walks, work scrutiny and lesson observations when required
To support the Director of Learning develop and quality assure the Schemes of Learning, resources and assessments in the faculty and ensure they incorporate whole school priorities such as SMSC and CEIAG

Curriculum Development
To support the Director of Learning effectively manage and deploy teaching/support staff, financial and physical resources within the curriculum area
To support the Director of Learning in ensuring that the qualifications and specifications in the faculty reflect the needs of students and the aims and objectives of the school
To support the Director of Learning to produce an annual curriculum overview for the faculty outlining the programme for all year groups including information for options evening
To support the Director of Learning create student enrichment opportunities in the faculty and monitor the impact
To support the Director of Learning to build positive links with creative industry organisations in order to enhance students vocational experiences

Outcomes for students
To support the Director of Learning, in consultation with the Senior Leadership Team, manage, analyse and evaluate all relevant available data in order to set targets for individual students and for the various subject teams
To support the Director of Learning to raise standards of student attainment and achievement within the whole curriculum area and to monitor and support student progress
To support the Director of Learning ensuring that effective intervention is put in place for students who are underachieving

Leadership and Management
To support the Director of Learning, participating in the interview process for teaching posts when required and to ensure effective induction of new staff in line with school procedures
To support the Director of Learning in the development of others through the appraisal process
To support the Director of Learning in ensuring that the faculty quality assurance procedures meet the requirements of Self Evaluation and the School Improvement Plan
To support the Director of Learning in ensuring that all relevant policies are adhered to within the faculty such as Marking and Feedback, Assessment and Behaviour
To support the Director of Learning in the development of trainee's/NQT in the faculty
To participate in and lead CPD
To support the Director of Learning work collaboratively with other Senior Middle Leaders to further drive improvement
To play a full part in the life of the school community, to support its distinctive ethos and to encourage other staff and students to follow this example
To celebrate success within the faculty and create opportunities for showcasing excellence

To ensure that all students have a safe environment in which they can learn, reporting any concern about the environment to a member of the site team or if appropriate to one of the Designated Safeguarding Leaders.
To be aware of systems which support safeguarding and following the procedures as highlighted in the Safeguarding Policy   
To identify children who may benefit from early help as soon as possible and discuss this with one of the Designated Safeguarding Leaders
To consider at all times what is in the best interests of the child
To protect children from maltreatment; preventing impairment of children's health or development; ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
To take action to enable all children to have the best outcomes

Other Specific Duties
To continue personal development as agreed.
To engage actively in the performance review process.
To undertake any other duty as specified by the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document not mentioned in the above.
